About Forever at the Door
When I lost Paige and Muffin, I didn’t eat, I didn’t sleep, or I slept too much. I didn’t leave my home or answer calls. My days were a blur of crying, silence, and emptiness. I’d forget they were gone, call their names, and remember all over again. Those were the loneliest, most unbearable days of my life.
I dreamed about them constantly — the only place that still felt real. Waking up hurt because it meant remembering all over again. Sometimes I’d catch their smell or find one of Muffin’s old toys hidden somewhere and just break down. I still have one of her chews.
No one warns you how grief hides in the smallest moments. The world tells you to move on. They say, “It was just a duck,” or “You can get another dog.” But they say it because your pain makes them uncomfortable. That’s the real enemy — a world that doesn’t understand that losing your best friend can shatter your entire identity.
When I lost Paige — my best friend, my daughter, my soulmate — I wanted to die. I didn’t know who I was without her. I sank into guilt, shame, and depression that lasted for years.
Finding Muffin brought light back into my life, but losing her too made me realize I had to understand why this pain ran so deep. That’s when I earned my Pet Grief Coach Certification, and that training changed my life.
After losing your pet, the house feels too quiet. You miss the love, the routine, the company. We know that kind of lonely because we have felt it too. Forever At The Door brings comfort through nature, journaling, and time with my duck. A little companionship when you need it most. Over time, you start to feel understood, less alone, and more at peace. You start to feel peace again, and the quiet does not hurt so much anymore.
Meet Tanner, My Best Friend and Co-Founder
When I got Tanner, she was a blessing. From a duckling to my “Little Drumstick,” she’s been with me through everything. What most people don’t know is that Tanner had a brother, Black. He was handsome, confident, and incredibly smart. He could learn something the very first time you showed him. He even knew how to blow his nose when he had a bogey, and he was always so proud of himself when he did. He’d strut when he walked, full of character and attitude. Losing him crushed my heart. At least they got to say goodbye...
Tanner is my best friend, my co-founder, and my comfort. She joins me for in-home sessions and Zoom calls, sitting nearby or in her stroller — always watching, always present, except when she falls asleep and you can hear her snoring... And she is where the healing begins.
